Our Mission
Space Exploration Academy (SEA) foundation is a STEM outreach program to provide holistic Space Exploration training to school students and secondary career professionals in the areas of Space Exploration and to prepare for careers in Space sciences. The focus is on students acquiring fundamental engineering and scientific concepts essential for Space exploration.
Mentorship
The students will be provided informal mentorship by SEA foundation mentors from the University of Texas, San Antonio, Southwest Research Institute, NASA, and other academic organizations.
The mentorship program will include help with prospective college admissions recruitment and connecting to the space community for internship and job opportunities.
Certifications
The students receive digital badges and certificates after
completing the recommended course modules. Upon completion of
required modules, the students receive certification from SEA Foundation
Port San Antonio, including,
1. Certificate in Data Analysis of Space Missions,
2. Certificate in Mobility for Space Exploration,
3. Certificate in Space Construction,
4. Certificate in Sensing for Space Exploration,
More certificates will be added during the following years.
On the completion of the Certification, the students will be equipped with essential skills to participate in internship opportunities at academic institutions, research, and private organizations.
Laboratory equipment
State-of-the-art equipment including vacuum tunnels, 3-D printers, Rovers and Robots, Martian/Lunar environment will eventually be included in the curriculum.
Curriculum
The course material has been prepared by renowned experts in Space sciences, including Retired Senior scientists from NASA, Ph.D. faculty from the University of Texas, San Antonio, and leading
experts from Southwest Research Institute. The course material consists of holistic training essential for Space Exploration. Over 3 years, over 20+ course modules will be offered during Fall, Spring, and Summer Sessions.
Modules will be offered during the Fall/Spring sessions on weekends for
5 weeks and 1 week program during Summer.
The curriculum includes introducing the fundamental concepts of
Introduction to Lunar/Martian environments, Data-analysis of Space
Exploration Data, Theory of satellites and data collection, Mobility
platforms in space, Space constructions and architecture, Space Medicine,
and related topics for Sustained Life on Planets.
